Autumn has arrived!
Y’all, it’s happening. Summer is coming to an end. And while we’re going to miss the hot days by the pool and warm, cicada-filled nights, autumn is truly one of the nicest times of the year in Austin.
- Now that it’s not 100° outside on a nice day, spending more time exploring the outdoors isn’t just doable- it’s enjoyable! With dehydration less of a concern, long hikes or days at the park are easy and fun, instead of feeling like a chore.
- Events are happening all. the. time. Seriously, if you’re looking to get out of the house but aren’t sure what to do, we guarantee you can find something up your alley! (Do512 has an incredible list of things you can do just in September, you can find it here!)
- Football season! It’s the time of year so many Texans have been waiting for, football is back on, y’all! Austin has some iconic sports bars where you can catch all the games, or you could throw your own game-day viewing party
What You Should Do This Autumn (and how AVS can make it MORE fun!)
Run/Bike/Walk the Trail –
Okay, okay, there are actually a bunch of different trails you should check out around Austin, but you can’t go wrong with the Ann and Roy Butler Hike & Bike Trail that goes around Lady Bird Lake. It’s a classic, quintessential part of the city, and the views of the lake are a beautiful distraction from all that exercise!
Need Motivation or an Extra Energy Boost?
Let us help! The next time you head out for an Autumn jog, try some of our premium Grassroots Harvest Kratom for the best workout of your life! Kratom is a plant in the coffee family that can provide energy + euphoria without a nasty crash, making it a perfect add-in for pre-workout shakes!
Want to know more about how to use kratom for working out, or on kratom in general? Swing by one of our locations to chat with our knowledgable staff! They’re happy to help answer any and all questions.
Dog-Friendly Activities –
It’s finally cool enough for you and your pup to enjoy dog parks, walks around the block, and all the other things that feel like torture in the blazing summer sun!
But there is bad news- since early August, city officials have warned dog owners to keep their pups out of Lady Bird Lake, especially near Red Bud Isle. The once-popular park for dogs to run and swim off-leash is currently closed due to dangerous algae blooms that are believed to be releasing neurotoxins into the water. Several dogs died earlier this summer before the park was closed, and the park has not yet been cleared to reopen.
What can you and your dog do instead?
- Throw a frisbee around Zilker Park
- Visit some of Austin’s best dog-friendly patios (we recommend: Maudie’s Too on South Lamar, Radio Coffee + Beer on Manchaca, & Spider House Cafe + Ballroom north of The Drag- let us know your favorite spots in the comments below!)
Got A Pup With Anxiety?
We carry CBD Pet Products! We have CBD Pet Oil in two different strengths and CBD Dog Bones for pups who deserve an extra special treat! These products are perfect for helping anxious dogs feel more at ease out and about, or older pups dealing with sore joints & inflammation.
Throw a CBD-Infused Game Day Party –
If you’re planning on throwing a Game Day party, may we suggest adding a bit of CBD infusion into the mix? It’s sure to impress guests and leave them feeling blissed-out, and that’s a win-win in our books!
We carry Grassroots Harvest CBD Honey in all our locations for delicious CBD that’s great on its own or in a recipe! CBD Honey makes it easy to infuse a lot of sweet recipes and can be used just like normal honey (although to preserve the integrity of the CBD, it shouldn’t be heated over 350 degrees Fahrenheit).
For Game Day, We Recommend:
Make the punch of your dreams and sweeten partially with CBD honey! 1 Tbsp. of Grassroots Harvest has 17mg of CBD, so dose accordingly!
No-Bake Honey Cheesecake
prepared graham cracker crust in a 9 inch pie or springform pan
2- 8 ounce packages cream cheese, softened
2 Tbsp. CBD Honey
3 Tbsp. normal honey
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 cups heavy whipping cream
Fruit or desired topping
In a mixing bowl beat cream cheese, honey, and lemon juice until smooth.
Gradually add whipping cream and beat until stiff and thickened. This will take 4-5 minutes. You want it whipped well.
Spread into prepared crust. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
Serve with fruit or your favorite topping.
CBD Honey Lemonade
Not your average lemonade! This can have as little or as much CBD inside as you’d like, each Tbsp. of Grassroots Harvest CBD honey has 17mg of CBD- so make sure you don’t overdo it!
Get Spooked –
It’s October, so it’s officially time for Haunted Houses again!
Visit a Haunted House- House of Torment is an Austin classic, but there are plenty of other options out there!
Want to go to an actually-haunted attraction? Rumor has it the iconic Driskill Hotel on 6th street is actually quite haunted- it’s on more than a few ‘most haunted’ lists! If you feel like splurging, get a room one night & see what kind of things you see and hear throughout the night. If that’s not in the budget, try visiting The Driskill Bar during their happy hour, every day from 4-7 pm!
Calm Yourself First!
Worried you’re going to get too scared? May we recommend starting the night with a little dose of CBD to calm the nerves, so you can actually enjoy being scared instead of worrying about your heart jumping out of your chest. We carry an extensive line of CBD products from Grassroots Harvest, from CBD Honey to 2500mg CBD Oil, we’ve got a kind of CBD for everyone.
We hope you’re as excited for the Fall season as we are! Let us know in the comments below how you’re going to enjoy Autumn in Austin!
